to the Web Portal of the SchoolNet Sri Lanka. This is the main
Internet resource page for all government schools in Sri Lanka.
SchoolNet
is currently being managed through the Education for Knowledge
Society Project (EKSP) and Ministry of Education. This is the
Wide-Area Network connecting more than 1500 schools island-wide
currently and that have Computer Learning Centers (CLCs), Computer
Resource Centers (CRCs), Provincial Education offices (PEOs), Zonal
Education Offices (ZEOs), Provincial ICT Centers, National Colleges of
Education (NCOEs), National Institute of Education (NIE) and
Ministry of Education.
SchoolNet opens
up a wide-array of opportunities to raise the quality of general
education. It is expected to facilitate efficient distribution of
electronic content to all participating schools.
One
of the significant new development that is expected is much improved
interaction between students and teachers from different schools.
Teachers and students can exchange information among themselves to
facilitate teaching/learning environment.

Multimedia Educational Materials related to few key subjects in the
G.C.E (O/L) - Grade 10 and Grade 11 G.C.E. A/L (Grade 12 and 13) are now
available from SchoolNet. The subjects covered are Mathematics (O/L),
Science (O/L), English (O/L), Agriculture (A/L), Geography (O/L) and
History (O/L).

learning and teaching program was inaugurated at a ceremony on 29th
July 2010 which took place at the official auditorium of the Ministry of
Education located at Isurupaya, Battaramulla. The web site would
provide valuable tools that are set to revolutionize the level of
learning.
